Caring for Oxford

Caring for Oxford

Called to be compassionate and caring to those who surround us, Journey Lutheran has established a "Caring for Oxford" fund that will seek to provide financial resources for mental health care expenses to those who may be emotionally, mentally, spiritually or physically struggling following the tragic Oxford High School shooting on November 30, 2021.

We are seeking to partner with other churches, ministries, businesses, and groups to make this a community effort to care for people in Oxford.

To facilitate this mental health care, we are working with multiple counseling services across the state to make available tele-care sessions, local therapy groups, and when possible, one on one counseling.

Our desire is to develop this fund in order that mental health care would be available for those in need as they experience significant anniversary dates in the future.

If you have questions about Caring for Oxford, please contact Pastor Matt or Pastor Dan.

If you would like to support the ministry financially so that it can continue to serve the mental health needs of our community, you can click on this link to make a donation (select Caring for Oxford from the fund menu). You can also send a check to Journey Lutheran with “Caring for Oxford” in the memo. 100-percent of donations received are given away for mental health care.

Request for Reimbursement

  • Journey Lutheran is now taking requests for reimbursement of mental health care costs for families and individuals dealing with the effects of the shooting at Oxford High School.

  • Those eligible for care would include students, teachers, staff, faculty and their families along with community members who do not have insurance or have inadequate insurance to cover this care, or who have already paid for mental health care out of pocket or before meeting their deductible.

  • If you would like to submit a request for reimbursement, fill out the form below. You will be contacted back by the Caring for Oxford Fund concerning your request. All requests will be kept confidential.

  • For future mental health care, Journey will work with individuals, families, and providers to be billed directly for services.
